Accessibility statement
We want every client, reviewer, and researcher to be able to read our work and reach us, whatever device or assistive technology they use.
Our commitment
EarthByte Lab LLC is committed to making earthbytelab.com usable by people with disabilities. We treat accessibility barriers as defects and fix them as part of normal site maintenance.
Conformance target
Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 (opens in a new tab) at Level AA. An internal audit on 16 September 2026 found the site partially conformant: the pages we control meet the target, with the exceptions listed under known limitations below.
Measures taken
- Semantic landmarks, one h1 per page, and a skip link to the main content.
- Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus outline that meets 3:1 contrast on dark and light surfaces.
- Text and interface colours are checked with a contrast script against WCAG 2.2 AA (4.5:1 for text, 3:1 for large text and interface components).
- Form fields have visible labels, autocomplete hints, and error messages that are announced to screen readers and linked to the field.
- Looping animation can be stopped with the “Pause animation” button in the homepage hero and in every page footer, and it stops automatically when the operating system “reduce motion” setting is on.
- Pages reflow to a 320 pixel wide viewport without horizontal scrolling.
- Links that open a new tab say so to assistive technology.
Known limitations
- Homepage orbit scene
- The animated WebGL backdrop on the homepage is decorative and hidden from assistive technology. Text over it sits on a darkened halo to keep contrast, and the “Pause animation” button stops it. The altitude readout along its right edge is decorative.
- Interactive 3D scenes
- The Gaussian splat scenes (for example the utility corridor capture) are loaded on request and are operated with a pointer or touch. Each scene has a written description on the page, and the same findings are reported in text in the related case study.
- Security check on forms
- The contact and booking forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to block spam. It is a third-party widget. If it does not work for you, email us and we will handle the request directly.
- Meeting invitations
- Consultations are scheduled through Google Calendar and held on Google Meet. Their accessibility depends on Google’s products. We can arrange a phone call instead.
- Careers site
- Job listings are hosted on a separate site (jobs.earthbytelab.com) that is not covered by this statement.
Feedback
If something on this site does not work for you, tell us which page and what you were trying to do. Email [email protected]. We aim to reply within two business days and can send the information you need in another format.
Assessment approach
We assess the site ourselves. The review combines a source code check against each WCAG 2.2 A and AA success criterion, a scripted colour contrast check of every text and interface colour pair, automated Lighthouse accessibility audits, and manual keyboard, zoom, and reduced-motion testing in a Chromium browser. It has not been reviewed by an external auditor.
